Julian's Scrapbook

This is an open scrapbook for my friends and family - my jottings and mementos. Normal people commit this sort of stuff to Facebook or another platform, but I dislike the idea of others owning and controlling my stuff.

There are many different strands. Some you may find interesting. You may even agree with a few. Other stuff may offend you. There is no agenda, other than to share what I love with the people I love. In an increasingly polarised world, if we only listen to those we agree with, we exacerbate our alienation.

I am...

husband to Shelagh, father to Rebecca, Sophie and Edward, software developer (mainly C and C#), Local Preacher in the Trinity Circuit, railway enthusiast and member of Bassetlaw Railway Society, Mahlerian and book lover.

My Professional Journey

Before retiring, I spent 39 years working in Electricity Supply Industry (ESI). Starting with modelling electrical systems, I escaped London to work at Marchwood and live on the Isle of Wight. Privatisation yanked me back into the real world, and saw assignments with PowerGen's Sales and Marketing and then Generation divisions. Finally I had my dream job at Power Technology.
